Community Fund
Turning Stories Into Impact
The MAR Community Fund exists to create direct impact through community-led giving.
As MAR Storylines grows, so does our ability to support First Nations individuals, community groups and grassroots initiatives across Australia.
Every advertisement, supporter membership and partnership contributes to the fund, helping transform readership into real opportunities for community.
How the Community Fund Works
MAR operates with a simple and transparent funding model.
20% → Magazine Growth & Sustainability
This portion helps cover the ongoing costs of producing and growing MAR Storylines Magazine.
40% → First Nations Individual Grants
Funding provided directly to First Nations individuals pursuing opportunities, projects, education, business ideas, creative initiatives or community-focused work.
40% → First Nations Community Grants
Funding provided to First Nations community, groups, organisations, collectives and grassroots initiatives creating positive impact.
Funding Milestones
For every $2,500 raised through MAR:
$1,000 Individual Grant Released
Supporting a First Nations person to pursue an opportunity, project or idea.
$1,000 Community Grant Released
Supporting a First Nations community group, organisation or initiative.
$500 Reinvested Into MAR
Helping ensure the magazine remains sustainable and continues to grow.
Community-Led Funding
We believe communities should help shape where funding goes.
When grant rounds open, eligible applicants will be invited to apply.
Applications will be reviewed to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria before finalists are announced.
The community will then be invited to vote, helping determine which individual and community initiative receives funding.
